Pisticci

As discussed initially, my following posts will be based around my connection with my parents’ hometown Pisticci, in the province of Matera, where my early impressions of the town as a youngster were mostly limited to beach…eat…rest…eat… and the ”Passegiata” (stroll). Of course, over the years I discovered that there is much more to Pisticci than the rest, relaxation, friendship, and consumption…repeat.

If you are considering exploring Pisticci, my recommendation would be as follows:

Beach

Spend the morning either at the beach or at our Hotel Torre Fiore pool. I recommend the lido at Natura Beach Club (http://www.lidonatura.it/) for its quality of service, food, beverage, and equipment. The beaches of Pisticci are extremely clean, the sand is expansive, and the water shallow. One warning, on hot days plan on wearing sandals or water shoes, the sand can be quite hot. If you are seeking a very active beach experience with opportunity of water sports equipment, you may want to consider the main San Basilio beach location with its expanded lido options. FYI, the Italians are morning beachgoers, so San Basilio will be busy in the morning, and less so at or after lunch.
